Last night i was at PJ Harvey in the Olympia with andy. Every time i'm in dublin these days it's a little strange. I've half a mind to move back up here but i honestly don't know if that's a good idea for a number of reasons. But needless to say i'm looking at all my options at the moment.
Polly was fantastic solo :) i've seen her with the band before, in belfast, also with andy, and she was riveting :) but last night she was so chatty and funny. Which contrasted nicely with her choice me material: heavy on the Desire, with the more spooky or storybased songs from all the albums making an appearance. The new songs sounded like a logical progression from that earlier material.
Was such a good gig. He really knows how to put on a good show. Between that last night and ani on tuesday last i'm all concerted out. Just gotta drive back to Galway now this morning. I stayed in my sister's place in maynooth. This place has changed so much in the 5 years since i finished my degree.
It's Steve's last night here in Galway. I'm not really sure what's happening next, but technically we did break up two weeks ago, but we've still been sharing a bed. I'm gonna visit him in cork, but this might be the actual end now. We've had a lot of 'going away' nights out for him this week, which has been drunken fun, but we tend to bicker now when drunk, so it's been a mix bag of a week.
I've also managed to move house this week, so it's been a crazy one. I'm now living with two of the Cuckoo Savante guys and an artist, as i've probably said before, and Cuckoo have been organising a cabaret night every wednesday. I've been accompanying Alex for a jazz set which opens the night, which has been good so far. We threw in a jazz version of the Gossip's 'Standing In The Way Of Control' which was really interesting, and quite fun to do.
I should have my laptop fixed fully this week, and i should have internet in the new place from thursday all things going well. So i'll emerge from my semi-internet-retirement soon :)
But i'd have preferred less politics in The votes. I was proving an aussie friend wrong by predicting most of the votes beforehand. Our swedish friend was rather annoyed too. Most of the bottom group was western europe. Nevertheless. It was a fun eurovision.
End obsession for another year. And i didn't watch the semi finals or anything either. Hottest entry: greece. Phoar
The male presenter is hot!

Serbia and Ukraine have made this the gayest eurovision ever.
I liked Hungary, Russia, Sweden, and Germany. Great entries this year! Really diverse :) should be a close competition.
So. Who on earth let dervish represent ireland? Does someone really hate them and want their career to die? Because, that song and performance will do it.
